La Fortuna Fly Fishing was born from the love of fly fishing and the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful areas of Costa Rica. For over a decade, we have shared the waters of Río Peñas Blancas and Río Chiquito with anglers from around the world.
What started as occasional guiding for friends and visitors became a professional service dedicated to offering authentic fly fishing experiences. We are locals, born and raised in La Fortuna, and we know every corner of the rivers, every weather pattern, every fish behavior according to the season.
We are not a massive operation. We keep small groups because we believe fly fishing is personal, requires dedicated attention and is best enjoyed without rushing. Each tour is an opportunity to share our passion and knowledge of the rivers.
We practice 100% catch and release. We use barbless hooks, minimal handling techniques and quick release. We educate our clients about the importance of conserving the river ecosystem for future generations.
We don't just take people fishing, we teach. Each tour includes instruction adapted to your level: from the most basic casting to advanced presentation techniques. We share our knowledge of the local ecosystem.
Your safety is non-negotiable. Impeccably maintained boats, complete safety equipment, guides certified in first aid and CPR, current insurance. We never compromise safety for a photo or one more fish.
